Barry Surma 57, Gallitzin died February 9, 2018 at UPMC Altoona. Born October 17, 1960 in Warren, OH the son of the late Joseph and Marion (Dashner) Surma. Survived by his wife the former Rue Ann O’Donnell whom he married May 23, 1992 at St. Patrick Church and his children, Renee and John. Brother of Joe - Gallitzin, Michael - Revloc, and Tom (Kathy) – Duncansville and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Was Director of the Small Business Development Center at St. Francis University. A 1978 graduate of Penn Cambria High School and a 1982 Graduate of St. Francis University where he later received his Master’s Degree. Attained certification as a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD). Board member for 37 years of Gallitzin Borough Sewer & Disposal Authority and also served as treasurer. Member of Gallitzin Moose, Finance Council at St. Demetrius, Treasurer of Penn Cambria Band Boosters and was an Adjunct Instructor at St. Francis University School of Business. Barry was very supportive of all his children’s activities and enjoyed watching sports and walking his dogs. There will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am Wednesday at St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin the Rev. Albert Ledoux celebrant. Committal St. Patrick Cemetery.
