Dolcy J. “Dolly” Gibbons 87, Ashville, passed away July 8, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born September 15, 1929 in Dean, daughter of the late John and Armanda (Borio) Balest. Preceded in death by husband, Don on August 11, 2003, infant son, Joseph in 1963, and these sisters and brother: Rose Reiter, Clare Chirdon, William, Minerva Passonetti, Alice Baldori, Pearl Chirdon and identical twin Dorothy Cole. Survived by children: Dan (Flora Harris) of Ashville, Fred (Diane Myers) of Gallitzin, and Bernice Shumac (George) of Ashville, grandchildren: Ben (Angela), Jennifer Renaldi (Neil), Melissa Gibbons (Terrill Andrews), Marlena Hajdu (Dan), Ryan, Kelly Lieb (Matt), Eric Shumac (Cristy), and Michael Shumac. Great grandchildren: Sydney, Caden, Andrew, Abbey, Jack, Aidan, Isabella, Nick, Kaylin, Alex, Ian, Seth Damian and Theo. Last member of her immediate family. Also survived by brother in law, Donald “Skip” Cole of Altoona and numerous nieces and nephews who she loved very much. Dolly enjoyed family time, going out to eat, especially with her nieces, and shopping. Life member of Ashville VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Member of Altar Rosary Society and St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ashville where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Wednesday, Rev. Robert Reese, Celebrant. Committal, St. Thomas Cemetery. Friends will be received from 3 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613 where a Vigil Service will be held Tuesday.
