Gary A. Yon

Gary A. Yon 65, Gallitzin died September 16,2017 at his home. Born November 7, 1951 in Altoona the son of the late Paul and Virginia (Caldwell) Yon. Preceded in death by a infant daughter, Leslie and sister Beverly Stetter. Survived by his wife of 48 years the former Cheryl Patterson whom he married November 1, 1969 and daughter Missy (Jim) Mitchell – Duncansville, grandchildren, Trevor, Ben and Alayna, also brothers, Paul (Penny) Yon and Denny (Candy) Yon both of Altoona and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. A graduate of Altoona High. Retired from EMS – Altoona as a machinist. Member of the Bavarian Hall – Altoona. Gary enjoyed bowling, golf, hunting and fishing. Member of Gallitzin United Methodist Church where he served on the Board, sang in the choir cut the grass around the church and helped with communion. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday September 30, 2017 at 4 pm at the Gallitzin United Methodist Church the Rev. Stephen Moore officiating followed by a reception at the Bavarian Aid Society (Heritage Hall) 112 S. 13th Street, Altoona, PA 16602 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm.
