Mary Catherine Reed 81, Gallitzin died April 4, 2019 at the home of her daughter Regina Risban. Born January 7, 1938 in Gallitzin the daughter of the late John and Agnes (Wahl) Becher. Preceded in death by her husband Francis on July 3, 2005 and brothers John and Robert. Survived by her children; Regina (Jim) Risban, George (Susan Kochara), Carol (Joe) Hollen and Gerald “Jerry”, grandchildren, James Jr. “JJ and wife Christiana Hill, Nancy Risban, Cory (Lauren), Nathan, Kristin and Katie Reed, Terry (Lacie) and Gregory Hollen, great-grandchildren, Noah, Conner, Sophie, Elizabeth, Vera Mae and Hadley, brothers, Francis and Ed (Margaret) and sister Elizabeth “Betty” Solarz, sisters-in-law Edna Becher-Hollywood, MD and Edna Becher - Altoona and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary Catherine enjoyed crocheting, cooking, traveling and puzzle books. A 1956 graduate of Gallitzin High. Formerly worked as a cook for the Basilica of St. Michael, Loretto. Member of St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin where Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am Monday the Rev. Albert Ledoux celebrant. Committal St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Cresson. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 pm Sunday at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church Street, Gallitzin where a vigil service will be held. gibbonsfunerals.com
