Mary J. (Merlini) Sprouse

Mary J. Sprouse 94, Gallitzin died October 21, 2018 at Altoona Center for Nursing. Born April 24, 1924 in Bennington the daughter of the late John and Ida (Contamattio)   Merlini. Preceded in death by her husband Lawrence P. on 12/28/2003, sisters, Beatrice Kunsman, Anne Ferrighetto and Laura Zabinski, brothers, Phillip, America, John and Robert. Survived by children; Lawrence Jr. (Catherine), Jeffrey, Cynthia Sprouse- Baker, Lisa and Victor, 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, last member of her family. Worked at the Altoona Center. Mary loved being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking especially her meatballs and sauce, listing to her husband’s jokes and telling jokes and playing cards. Member of the IMS Auxilary and St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin where Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am Saturday the Rev. Albert Ledoux, celebrant. Committal St. Patrick Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 pm Friday at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church Street, Gallitzin. The family suggest donations be made to St. Demetrius Church in Mary’s memory.
