Sad to see Rev Cletus Watsons passing, he was my Sr. Year Religion teacher, so full of life, always smiling. Peace to you

I was saddened to read of Father Cletus' passing; but I was pleased to see the photograph of him with the big smile that I remember.  Father Cletus was my religion teacher my sophomore year at Bishop Egan circa 1969.  I failed that course and had to attend summer school.  After I received my failing grade and he could do me no more harm (or so I thought), I went to see Father Cletus and chastised him, in advance, for ruining my summer.  He let me rant, took it in stride and then sent me on my way for the summer.  I was done with him, and I assumed he was done with me.

Summer school was not so bad, only a couple of weeks, and my summer ended up being just fine. However, returning to school for junior year, the unexpected happened.  Guess who I had for religion?  Father Cletus!  As he scanned the room that first day of class, he noticed me, flashed that big smile and welcomed me back.

I have always appreciated him letting me off the hook, and when I think of Father Cletus, I too get a big smile on my face.

So sorry to hear of Father Cletus's passing. I met him many years ago in Pennsylvania. He was involved in the Theresians of which I belonged. I had just gotten in touch with him at Christmas and sent him some old photos of him. I will never forget his wonderful smile. God bless him.

Sad to hear another great priest and teacher has passed away.  Will always remember his warm personality.  He often said Sunday mass at my parish (Immaculate Conception).  I'll never forget his homily on the Row v Wade decision which ironically was delivered on January 28, 1973, exactly 44 years ago on the day of his passing. It was the most impassioned sermon I've ever heard.  Father Cletus was always kind to his student and all others.  He was a wonderful person.  RIP.
