Cecelia R. “Cel” Mentzer 84, Gallitzin died October 19, 2023, at Midtown Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center, Altoona. Born November 5, 1938, in Portage daughter of the late Frank and Raphael (Kuras) Koza. Preceded in death by her husband, James on July 25, 1997, daughter, Donna, son Thomas on Nov. 3, 2011, infant brother John, brother Albert “Dutch” and sister Josephine Bendzak. Survived by her sons, Ronald (Sharon Morrison), Larry (Nina Fockler) and daughter-in-law Michelle “Mokey” Mentzer, and Stan (Leann) Olsick, grandchildren Reyne (Ray) Mackey, Sara (Mike) Krozel and their children Kasen and Ethyn, Kayla and her children Laken, Parker, Missy her children, Alex and Tagen, Josh (Jess) their children Alexis Maddy, Sophia and Josh, Benji and his daughter Lucy, Luke (Alyssa) Geisbrecht their children Savannah and Madison, Dlyan (Katelyn) Olsick and Derek Olsick. Brothers and sisters Frank Koza, Theresa (Michael Jr.) Enedy, Paul (Bertha) Koza, Bernice Koza, Raphael Koza and a godchild Andy Enedy Member of the Gallitzin Tourist Council and worked at the store, loved watching her grandchildren, great-grand-children growing up and her family, enjoyed crocheting and babysitting, member of the choir and taught CCD at St. Demetrius Church. Graduate of Portage High School. Member of St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin where funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 am Tuesday the Rev. Albert Ledoux celebrant. Committal St. Mary Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 pm Monday at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church Street, Gallitzin where a vigil service will be held Monday. The family suggest donations be made to the Gallitzin Tourist Council or St. Demetrius Church in Cel’s memory.
