Charles K. “Chuck” Berkheimer 74, Gallitzin died September 7, 2021, at UPMC Altoona. Born December 12, 1946, in Altoona the son of the late Victor and Marie (Wilt) Berkheimer. Preceded in death by former wife Helen Pfahler, brothers, Dave, Rick, Pete, and Victor and sister Diane Seilhamer. Survived by his children, John (Kimberly), Chuck (Christina), Jennifer (Jim) Lewis, Janeen (William) Bailey and Cathy Delaney and fiance Luke Smithbower, grandchildren, Tashia Marie, Ashley, Colin, Carter, Kayla, Christopher, Jared, Charlie, Ava, Alexandra, Ashtin, William, Stephanie, and Zachary, great-grandchildren, Talan, Emri, Kaydynce, Oliva, Elizabeth, Saylor, and Cole. Brother of Donna (Gary) Helsel and Dorothy Berkheimer. Chuck worked as a union laborer. An Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. and received the Bronze Star Medallion. Member of the Gallitzin Lions Club, Gallitzin American Legion, Gallitzin Sportsman’s, DAV, and former Gallitzin VFW where he served as commander. Chuck served as mayor of Gallitzin and a member of Gallitzin Water Authority. He was a socializer who like spending time with family and friends. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 pm Friday and 10 am until time of service at 11 am Saturday at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church Street, Gallitzin.
