Dr. Robert H. Hoellein Jr.

Dr. Robert H. Hoellein Jr. passed away February 28, 2019 in Summerfield, FL. Formerly of Indiana and Barnesboro. He was born June 30, 1942 in Greensburg, PA the son of Robert H. Sr. and Evelyn (Charlton) Hoellein. He was raised in Barnesboro, PA where he graduated from Northern Cambria High school in 1960. He earned a BS degree in psychology from Juniata College in1964, his Master’s degree from West Virginia University and PhD in school Psychology from The Ohio State University. Preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 49 years, Patricia (Kotecki) Hoellein He has been reunited with his loving wife and the love of his life. He is survived by his daughter, Susan (Rick) McCreary and grandson Ryan residing in Gillette, WY. granddaughter, Tiffany (Weston) Lohf; and one great-granddaughter, Brenna, all residing in Ronan, MT, sister-in-law, Barbara Zblewski, Haymarket, VA, two nephews, and a great nephew and great niece. Bob worked as a school psychologist in southeastern Ohio for ten years before becoming a professor in the Department of Educational and School Psychology at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1977. During his tenure at IUP, he variously served as the Director of the Child Study Center, director of doctoral studies and chairperson of the department. He was awarded professor emeritus status at his retirement from IUP in 2003. Bob was active in professional associations as a charter member of both the National Association of School Psychologists and the Association of School Psychologists of Pennsylvania. He served on the executive board of ASPA for over ten years and was President of the Association in 1992. Friends will be received from 3 to 6 pm Friday at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church Street, Gallitzin, PA  16641. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am Saturday at the funeral home followed by committal at Resurrection Mausoleum, Gallitzin.
