Edgar J. Eckenrode 93, Gallitzin died June 23,2021 at UPMC Altoona. Born March 27,1928 in Hogetown the son of the late Charles and Mary (Noll) Eckenrode. Preceded in death by his wife the former Dolores “Sis” Costello on March 20, 1996, infant children, Theresa and Thomas, son-in-law Daniel Summerville, brothers Robert, Norbert and Eugene and sister Mary Eckenrode and Betty Lyberger. Survived by his children, Dennis (Linda), Dianne Summerville, Doris (Tom) Eger, Darrel (Sue) and Douglas (Missy), 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson and siblings, Catherine (Archie) Donoughe, Damien and Donna Hufford. Ed retired in 1993 from Cresson Plastics as a supervisor. Army/Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. Member of Gallitzin Tourist Council and St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin where Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am Tuesday the Rev. Albert Ledoux celebrant. Committal St. Mary Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 pm Monday at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church Street, Gallitzin where a vigil service will be held Monday. Military rites by Gallitzin American Legion and other local military organizations.
