Gilda Adams Obituary

Gilda D. Adams, Cresson went to join her heavenly family on May 24,2020. She married Joseph “Woody” Adams on August 5, 1950 and after 43 years of loving marriage “Woody” passed away on December 27, 1993, she is also preceded in death by sisters Mary Belmonte, Carrie Tiercave, Elizabeth Layman, Jane Adams, and Nina Rickens. Gilda is survived by her son Joseph A. married to Kay Elder, granddaughter and her husband Amanda Maria Adams and Spencer Rossman, great grandchildren Maxwell Luca and Giavanna Sophia and a special niece Rachelle Bonfield and many nieces and nephews, and a devoted friend, Stanley “Stush” Fudalski. She is the last member of the Anthony and Rachel (Plastino) Adams family. Gilda retired from West End Market after 43 year, mentoring and befriending many young men and women. She was active in St. Francis Xavier Parish community, President of the Altar Rosary Society for many years. She was part of a devoted group of women who catered weddings for 8 years, with all the money donated to renovate the church. She also faithfully cleaned the church and was one of the first Eucharistic Ministers. He enjoyed accompanying her husband on Knights of Columbus events. She tried many hobbies (but she loved working) and her pride and dedication was her family, especially her granddaughter Amanda. Gilda has left a positive impression on this world by helping those in need. Special mention and thanks to devoted, loving caregivers, Lorrie Kratzer, Kim Fulton, Mary Sutton, and Virginia Glass. Special recognition to Heidi Kopchik, RN, UPMC Hospice for her loving concern and excellent care of Gilda and her loving family. Words cannot express our gratitude. Due to the covid-19 pandemic private viewing for the family will be at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church Street, Gallitzin, PA. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Cresson. The family suggest donations be made to Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation, 110 East 42nd, 16th floor, NY, NY 10017 or Carmelite Monastery, PO Box 57, 2101 Manor Drive, Loretto, PA 15940 in Gilda’s memory.
