Glatha "Gail" (Byrne) Eckenrode

Glatha Gail (Byrne) Eckenrode, 87, went to the Lord on November 10, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her family. Born January 7, 1935, on Mud Lane, Ashville daughter of the late Warren and Delphine (Della McConnell) Byrne. Preceded in death by her loving husband Robert whom she married 69 years ago on November 7, 1953 at St. Michael Church, Loretto, infant daughter Bonnie, grandson Ryan Diehl, step grandson Danny McMullen, brothers, Joseph, Roy, Danny, Ted, and Larry, sisters Mary Beach, Theresa Reese, Carolyn Brady and infant sisters Barbara and Ann. Survived by her children, Sharon Moses (Dave), Cindy Strittmatter (Tom), Colleen Vinglish (Kevin) Glenn (Anita), Jeanette Fabbri (Carl), Lori McMullen (Dave), and Kim Eckenrode (Mike), 28 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and a sister Cecelia Hoyle, numerous nieces and nephews and best friend for over 80 years Jean Beyer, and special care giver Tammy Coke. Glatha had various jobs to help support her family, she loved having card night once a month with her children. Holidays were always special in the house where she raised all her children. She loved her flowers and vegetable gardens. She was a member of the Cresson Legion Auxillary. She did volunteer work for the Auxillary, and at the Cresson Senior Center. Recently she spent time with her young best friend Amniste. Member of St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin where Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am Saturday the Rev. Albert Ledoux celebrant. Committal Resurrection Mausoleum. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 pm Friday at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church Street, Gallitzin where a vigil service will be held Friday.
