Helen I. Brady was born April 8, 1927, in Brooklyn, New York to Madeline & John Maher. She died on April 19, 2022, in Gallitzin, Pennsylvania. Growing up in Brooklyn, she was very close to her grandmother, Catherine Cosgrove, her mother, Madeline Maher and sister, Madeline Marotta. So, when they moved to Coram, Long Island, she followed. There she met her husband, Edward, they spent nearly 30 years together enjoying their home, gardening, and going to the Beach together. After her husband passed away & her health started failing her, she was moved to Pennsylvania where her niece, Catherine Anastasi, lived. She was cared for in Elmcroft Nursing Home for a few years, but she soon was fortunate to find more than a caretaker, she found Irene Lynch. For nearly 5 1/2 years she lived in Gallitzin & was cared for by this special woman 24/7, When dementia robbed Helen of her mind and body Irene would not take no for an answer. She talked, taught & brought Helen to levels unseen by many medical professionals. Irene was Helen’s lifeline. And when the moment came & Helen was leaving this world, Irene was there, at her side, as always, tending to her with love. With sincere gratitude to Gibbons Funeral Home for their kindness and professionalism. There will be no services in Pennsylvania, but committal will take place in Brooklyn, NY at a later date.
