James J. Hoopsick 88, Cresson, died February 20, 2022, at UPMC Altoona. Born January 7, 1934, in Osceola Mills the son of the late Michael and Beatrice (Blakney) Hoopsick. Preceded in death by his wife Jeanette on March 22, 2013, infant son Jimmy on Jan.25, 1957, granddaughter Chelsea Bodner, great-grandchildren Johnny Watt, Jesse Brown and Carter Hook a son-in-law Steve Bodner and all his siblings. Survived by his children, James P. (Natalie Turner), Marion (Elliott) Boulous and Carla (Gene) Smay, grandchildren, Shawn Krestar, Tamara Starnes, Shane Krestar, Vanessa Krestar, Dustin Bodner, Angel Watt, Cassandra Hoopsick, Travis Hoopsick, Christopher Hoopsick, Wesley Hoopsick, James Hoopsick Jr., and Cindy Lou Young also 35 great grandchildren. An Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War. Technical Sergeant Hoopsick volunteered without hesitation to serve his country. Technical Sergeant Hoopsick distinguished himself by meritorious service as Chief, Administrative Section, Target Development Branch, Tango Target Division, Directorate of Targets, Deputy Chief of staff of Intelligence, Headquarters Seventh Airforce, Republic of Vietnam, while engaged in operations against an opposing force from October 5th 1968 to October 5th 1969. Throughout his managerial expertise and resourcefulness, he provided the stability to effectively establish and maintain the distinctive Administration accomplishments of the Target Branch. The exemplary leadership, personal endeavor, and devotion to duty displayed by Staff Sergeant Hoopsick in this responsible position reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force. He was also awarded the Bronze Star Medal. Friends will be received from 10 am until the time of the Memorial Service at 11 am Saturday at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church Street, Gallitzin. Military Rites by local military organizations.
