James F. “Jay” McMahon died November 7, 2020 at his home. Born May 21,1929 in Gallitzin the son of the late Paul and Margaret (Gutwald) McMahon. Preceded in death by his wife the former Margaret “Peggy” Cronauer on Dec. 11, 2004, grandson Anthony McMahon on May 25, 2009 and brothers William, Patrick and Mick and sister Anna Springer. Survived by his children, Brian (Theresa), Patty (Chris) Skupien, Terry (Ron) Reagan, Jim (Jackie) , Michael (Celeste), grandchildren, Chris (Ninna) McMahon, Collen Nimitz, Cory (Dawn), Abbie (Brad) Uziel, Amy (Mike) Schellhammer, Shawn (Jennie) Reagan, Jayme McMahon, Nick (Crystal) McMahon, Morgan McMahon, Sarah (Jon) Mulhearn, and Hailey McMahon, 21 great-grandchildren. Brother of Sr. Ada SSJ, and sisters-in-law Rita McMahon and Rose Marie McMahon. Retired as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in 1986. A 1947 graduate of Gallitzin High School. A Korean War Veteran. Member of Gallitzin American Legion and former member of Gallitzin VFW. Jay enjoyed watching Pirates baseball and golfing. Friends will be received from 9:30 until 10:30 Tuesday at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church Street, Gallitzin. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am Tuesday at St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin the Rev. Albert Ledoux celebrant. Committal St. Mary Cemetery. Military Rites by Gallitzin American Legion and other local military organizations.
