John M. “Red” Nagle 97, Cresson died September 4, 2018 at Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. Born August 13, 1921 in Cresson the son of the late Dennis and Dorothy (Crooks) Nagle. Preceded in death by his wife the former Roberta “Bert’ Burgoon on December 11, 2012, brother, Lester and sisters, Anastasia Conrad, Helen Proudfit, Margaret and infant sister Regina. Survived by his children; Jack (Rita) – Gallitzin, Dennis – Cresson and Nancy (George) Handte – Harmony, grandchildren, Jimmy (Janice) Nagle, Scott (Courtney) Handte, Denise (Tony) Manganello, Susan (Richard) Rabish and Christine Handte, great-grandchildren, Kaden, Brandon, Andrew, AJ and Teagan, Vinny and Kieran and sister-in-law, Alma Burgoon – Ashville. Last member of his family. Red worked as an engineer for Conrail and retired in 1981. A 1939 graduate of Cresson High School. An Army Veteran of WW II. Life member of Sankertown VFW and Cresson American Legion. Former member of Cresson Summit Country Club. Social member of Cresson Italian Club and charter member of Ashville Volunteer Fire Co. Red enjoyed shooting pool, playing golf and cutting grass. Member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Cresson where Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1pm Saturday the Rev. Matthew Reese celebrant. Committal St. Francis Xavier Mausoleum. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm Friday at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church Street, Gallitzin where a vigil service will be held Friday. Military Rites by Sankertown VFW, Cresson American Legion and other local military organizations. The family suggest donations be made to Penna.
