Joyce Lang

Joyce Lang, Cresson died peacefully February 25,2020. She was born May 31, 1931 in Altoona the daughter of the late Walter and Ida Mae (O’Neil) Skagerberg. Preceded in death by her brother James, sister, Maxine and nephew Jeffrey Chambers. Survived by her husband H.C. Lang whom she married June 16,1956 in Cresson and their four children, H. Connell Jr – Denver, CO, Philip M. – Oxford, Suzanne Lang – Hughesville, MD and Melissa Taylor – Denver, CO, grandchildren Calvin, Steven, Ben, Lauren, and Katherine Lang and Bailey Taylor, sisters-in-law, Loretta Skagerberg, Barbara Ferazzi and Virginia Connell and brother-in-law Thomas Lang. Joyce worked at the First National Bank of Cresson and the Carnegie Foundation in Washington DC prior to marrying Connell Lang. While raising her 4 children she became a Real Estate Broker and certified Real Estate Appraiser in PA. Joyce was an avid skier and past president of the Blue Knob Ski Club. She enjoyed traveling throughout Europe and the western U.S. to go skiing. She also enjoyed playing golf in Cresson and at her winter home in Hilton Head, S.C. She was an accomplished bridge player and belong to many bridge clubs in S.C. She loved her Lhasa Apso dogs, of which she had many over the years. Joyce was enjoying life until 8 months ago when she suffered a stroke. Member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 am Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Cresson the Rev. Leo Arnone celebrant. Committal St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. Friends received from 4 to 8 pm Friday at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church Street, Gallitzin where a vigil service will be held Friday.
