Kathryn M. "Kate" (Eckenrode) Crusciel

Kathryn M. “Kate” Crusciel, 76, Gallitzin died November 4, 2022, at her home. Born January 7, 1946, in Loretto the daughter of the late Robert and Rose (Olson) Eckenrode. Preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Sheila (Hines) Crusciel, on June 2, 2016, brothers, Bill, Jim, and sister Mag Boldizar, along with a niece Jackie Grecek. Survived by her husband of 59 years Robert, whom she married October 5, 1963, at St. Michael Church, Loretto, and these children, Robert, Jr. (Julie), Lynette (Pat) Shaffer and Joseph, grandchildren, Justine (Mac) Festa, Amanda Shaffer, Lexie, Cole, Drew, Trevor and Peter Crusciel, a brother Bob (Flo) Eckenrode and sister Annie (Gene) Crum, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Kate retired from Penn Cambria School District as a cafeteria worker. She was a former member of St. Mary’s Choir and Women’s Society and was a member of St. Demetrius Choir. She was involved in girl scouts and little league baseball and loved watching the Pittsburgh Pirates, bowling, shopping, and attending her grandchildren’s events. Member of St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Wednesday, November 9, the Rev. Albert Ledoux, celebrant. Committal Resurrection Mausoleum. Friends will be received from 2:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, November 8, at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church Street, Gallitzin, where a vigil service will be held Tuesday. The family suggest donation be made to St. Demetrius Church in Kate’s memory.
