Obituary

Miss Louise C. Machowski 90, Hollidaysburg formerly of Gallitzin and Cresson died June 25, 2021 at Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg. Born June 3, 1931, in Johnstown the daughter of the late John and Amelia (Mozden) Machowski. Preceded in death by, sisters Eleanor Ochal, Genevieve Machowski, Henrietta Thomas brothers Edward and Thaddeus, brothers-in-law James Thomas, Edward Ochal and Clyde Diamond, sister-in-law Josephine (Bobrowicz) Machowski and Helen (Hovanec) Machowski. Survived by her sister, Bernice Diamond – Johnstown. Louise dedicated her life working as a Priest’s housekeeper – secretary for 58 years serving Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Lilly from 1951to 1957, at Sacred Heart Church, Portage from 1957 o 1995 and St. Demetrius Church in Gallitzin from 1995 until 2008 where she was last employed. She worked under the pastor ship of the late Rev. B.J. Worsa, the late Rev. Laurence J. Karcz O.F.M., the late Rev. Stanley Zubrichi and Rev. Msgr. Bernard Przybocki. Upon her retirement she kept house for Msgr. Bernard in Cresson. Louise lived her position and was very dedicated. She was a former member of the Sacred Heart Church Choir, the Legion of Mary; the Our Lady of Fatima Society, The Third Order Secular Franciscan & The St. Demetrius Ladies Society- Gallitzin. Louise operated the bingo in Portage for 14 years. She loved gardening, and always beautified the church and rectory grounds. She also took great pride in decorating the churches. She had much admiration for the Sister Servants of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Cresson, and the priests she worked for. Member of St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin where Funeral Mass will be concelebrated at 10 am Monday the Rev. Msgr. Bernard Przybocki and Rev. Albert Ledoux celebrant.  Relatives and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Sunday at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church Street, Gallitzin where a vigil service will be held Sunday. Committal Sacred Heart Cemetery, Portage. In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of Louise may be made to the Sister Servants of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Cresson, St. Demetrius Church in Gallitzin, or Sacred Heart Church in Portage.
