Louise (Gibbons) Shaffer

Louise Shaffer, 85 Cresson, died February 16, 2020. Born February 22,1934 in Loretto the daughter of the late Fred and Pearl (Bertram) Gibbons. Preceded in death by husband Russell on August 27,2008, son James and brothers; Dennis and James. Survived by children, Timothy (Ann Vargo), Amy (An) Duong, Patrick (Lynette Crusciel), Joan (Gerald) Farabaugh, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother, Thomas and sisters-in-law Rebecca and Leona also numerous nieces and nephews and special friend, Christine Glass. Louise enjoyed spending time with her family and quilting. She worked as a receptionist for Dr. Joseph Cassidy for a number of years and as a CNA for the Hollidaysburg Presbyterian Home for 13 years and retired in 1998. She was a former member  of Arts Alive, Gallitzin and a member of the Altar Rosary Society and St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Cresson where Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Thursday, the Rev. Leo Arnone, celebrant. Committal St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.Friends will be received from 4 to 8 pm Wednesday at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church Street, Gallitzin,PA 16641, where a Vigil Service will be held Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions be made to a Juvenile Diabetes Association in Louise's memory.
