Sam Wilt 77, Altoona formerly of Gallitzin died May 14, 2020 at UPMC Altoona. Born Oct. 31, 1942 in Gallitzin son of the late Francis W. “Bud” and Edna (Howell) Wilt. Preceded in death by twin grandchildren, Charles and Samantha Wilt, brother, Francis Jr. (Bill), infant Donna, sisters, Marilyn Emala and April Billy. Nephews, Mark Emala, Bill Wilt and Curtis Wilt, brothers-in-law, Cletus Hufford, and Gerard “Bucky” Grabosky. Survived by his wife the former Virginia “Ginger” McGonigle whom he married Jan. 15, 1966, daughter Michelle (John) Kohler and son Jeffery (Amy), grandchildren, Kelly, Johnny, Daniel, and Samuel. Brother of Judy Grabosky and Jim (Cathy) Wilt, brother-in-law, Joseph “Jody” Billy and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and his dogs Schneider and Bennie. Sam was an Army and Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War. He enjoyed hunting, fishing serving on the Honor Guard for fallen Veterans and a special niece, Nevaya. Member of Gallitzin American Legion, Alumni Association, Mason, Shriners, Gallitzin Moose and Knights of Columbus Bishop Kaniech Council, Fairbanks, Alaska. Member of St. Michael the Archangel parish, Hollidaysburg. Due to the covid-19 regulations a private Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin, the Rev. Alan Thomas, and Rev. Albert Ledoux celebrants. Committal Alto Reste Cemetery. Arrangements by Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church Street, Gallitzin.
