Stephen Vinglas Obituary

Stephen E.” Vin” Vinglas 66, Gallitzin died December 11, 2021, at UPMC Altoona. Born June 1, 1955, in Altoona the son of the late Joseph & Mary (Karbowniczek) Vinglas. Preceded in death by a sister Kathleen Lynch, and brothers Anthony and Frank. Survived by his wife of 45 years the former Debbie Stevens whom he married September 4, 1976, at St. Patrick Church, Gallitzin and these children, Scott (Bethany), Stephanie Vinglas (Fiance-Brett Walter) and Josh (Jena). grandchildren, Addisyn, Bentley Wyatt, Rowan, Reagan, and Jordan. Brother of Theresa Vinglas, Luke (Rosemarie), Rosie Mattiello, twin brother Stanley “Boomer” (Dawn), and Greg, his mother-in-law, Mary “Mom” Stevens and all of Debbie’s family and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Steve was a 3rd Degree member of St. Pius Council Knights of Columbus where he served as Inside guard, and on the Degree Team, Golf Team and very active in the hoagie sales, Christmas parade, regular meetings, and other events. He was Pap to the kids at Children’s Express Daycare. He especially loved babysitting his grandkids and spending time with his family, also golfing, shooting, and reloading guns, road trips and his cars and truck. Retired from Norfolk Southern as a Foreman in 2014. A 1973 graduate of Penn Cambria High School. Member of St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin where he was an Usher for many years. Due to construction a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am Thursday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Cresson the Rev. Albert Ledoux celebrant. Committal St. Patrick Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 pm Wednesday at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301Church Street, Gallitzin   where a vigil service will be held Wednesday followed by the Knights of Columbus Service.
