Obituary

Thomas L. Eger 69, Gallitzin died May 23, 2023, at his home following a lengthy battle with cancer. Born June 8, 1953, in Altoona, the son of the late James T. and Laverne (Link) Eger. Preceded in death by brothers, Bill, James, infant brother Joe, sisters, Patricia, Janet Lee, Lucy, Ruth, and infant sister Barbie. Survived by his loving wife of 49 years the former Doris Eckenrode whom he married August 18,1973 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Gallitzin, and his children; Heather her husband Allan Zunich and their children Adanya and Jacob and Tom, brothers Dave, Jake, Kenny (Theresa) and sisters Dorothy Glenn and Waneda Eger and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Tom worked as a coal miner at Beth 33 Mines in Ebensburg and owned his own construction business TJ Construction for 20years. Former member of Gallitzin Moose and Italian Club where he enjoyed playing pinochle, but his grandchildren were his life. At the request of the deceased there will be no services, Arrangements by Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church Street, Gallitzin.
