Thomas P. Laino

Thomas P. Laino 59, Cresson, died May 14, 2018 at UPMC Altoona. Born July 24, 1958 in Altoona the son of the late Joseph A. and Gloria (McClure) Laino. Preceded in death by a nephew Dan Tutko and in-laws Dick and Gerry Buck. Survived by his wife the former Nancy Buck whom he married December 5, 1981 at St. Patrick’s Church, Gallitzin and these children; Rebecca (Ted) Schaffer – Columbus, OH; Stephanie (Zachary) Michael – Pittsburgh and Richard (Katelyn Clark) – Cresson, grandchildren, Brody, Sarah, Lucy Schaffer and a grandson to be born in August and Elijah Michael. Brother of: Joseph (Susan) and their families – Cresson; Ronald (Hillarie) and their families – Mifflinburg; James (Jean) and their families – Lilly; Linda Harker – State College and her families, sisters-in-law, Jeanne (Larry) Bem and their family; and Linda (Scott) Schultz and their families – Lilly. Tom retired from the Pennsylvania State Police in 2007 A 1976 graduate of Penn Cambria High School and a graduate of Penn State University with a degree in Administration of Justice. Tom enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, especially Wyoming trips with his son Richard, fishing and going to the beach. Co-manger of All Saints Catholic School Bingo for 20 years and former Athletic Director & Basketball coach. Former member of Cresson Volunteer Fire Co where he and his son Richard restarted the fire company bingo in 2016.Member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 57. Member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Cresson where Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1pm Saturday the Rev. Matthew Reese celebrant. Committal church cemetery. Friends will be received from 6 to 8pm Thursday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm Friday at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church Street, Gallitzin, PA 16641 where a vigil service will be held Friday afternoon.
