William T. “Bill” Carney 86, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Cresson died January 18, 2022, at UPMC Altoona. Born September 24, 1935, in Altoona the son of Thomas and Alberta (Albright) Carney. Preceded in death by his 1st wife the former Louise Szynal on July 11, 2005, 2nd wife the former Edna Dodson, stepdaughters, Linda Rupp and Jennifer Appleyard, sister Jean Bradley and sister-in-law Joan Carney. Survived by his sons, Tom and wife Kathleen and Jerry, grandchildren, Michelle, Amanda, Katrina and Samantha, stepdaughter Mary Castillo. Brother of Fred and Daniel (Charlene) and numerous nieces, and nephews. Bill retired from James E. Van Zandt Medical Center, Altoona as a pipefitter. A US Navy Veteran. A 1955 Graduate of Cresson High School. Bill enjoyed sports and played semi professional football for the Portage Bull Dogs. He especially enjoyed his children and grandchildren. A member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am Friday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Cresson the Rev. Alan Thomas celebrant. Committal St. Mary Cemetery, Gallitzin. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 pm Thursday at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church Street, Gallitzin. The family suggest donations be made to Bishop Carroll High School in Bill’s memory. Military Rites by local military organizations.
